Was Darth Krayt or Darth Bane right in regards to the future of the Sith? Darth Bane believed that the Sith were too traitorous and too many of them would always lead to conflict, however Krayt believed that uniting them all under one master would ensure stability. And then there's Palpatine's crazy Rule of One... So who was in the right?
Darth Bane's dynasty lasted over a millennium and united the galaxy under Sith rule by popular consent. The Rule of Two is really the only way to make sure the Sith's Hebraic-tier subversiveness isn't turned on itself. That One Sith quickly schismed once it achieved power shows that it solved none of the problems inherent in the Brotherhood of Darkness. >And then there's Palpatine's crazy Rule of One... I'm not sure I'd call it crazy. Palpatine's Rule of One, or something like it, is the logical conclusion of the Rule of Two. If and when the Rule of Two creates a Sith so powerful that no one can best him, a Sith that is able to continue accruing power indefinitely, the need for an apprentice disappears.
Yes but the Rule of Two encourages survival of the fittest. As soon as the jedi got stomped out, Palpy should've let the Sith run free. But Palpatine was just being a selfish old prick.
>>2712 Having unrestricted Dark Side users running around the Empire would be like giving imageboard autists the ability to settle their waifu debates by destroying entire planets. Eventually it would just get out of hand.

>>2714 >Having unrestricted Dark Side users running around the Empire would be like giving imageboard autists the ability to settle their waifu debates by destroying entire planets. You say that like its a bad thing
>>2714 This is a true statement. Just look at the Sith Inquisitor story line in ToR. Right at the end of the battle for Correlia a dark council member with a flagpole up his ass decides to issue a kaggath with you.
>>2712 "Letting" the Sith run free would discourage survival of the fittest. All of the mid-tier Sith would gang up on Palpy and kill him, then fight among one another. Palps was able to enact the Rule of One and keep it that way more or less indefinitely because he was a walking Force nexus, who could crush any apprentice that tried to challenge him. If someone managed to challenge and usurp him even in spite of Palpy's myriad advantages, only then should they be allowed the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith.
Bane was in the right. You limit the Sith, you limit infighting. The Rule of One was stupid because you were just giving space to pretenders. Krayt had Wyrlokk, Maladi and Nihl as potential threats. There was a limit to indoctrination, to the point of Krayt himself creating later mindless soldiers bound to his will as a new fighting force.
>>2702 Rule of one isn't so crazy in practice. For most intents and purposes the various technically non-Sith Darkside users under his command(Dark Jedi, Darksiders, Inquisitors, Emperor's Hands) practically fill the same role other Sith Lords and Apprentices would under a more traditional Sith Empire. He simply limits their effectiveness by restricting how much they know keeping the majority of Sith lore from them to minimize their potential to rival him or his "true" apprentice Vader. It seems silly the way he doesn't call them Sith whatever as any previous Sith Emperor would have, but keeping them from thinking of themselves as true rivals to him or Vader also makes psychological sense.
>And then there's Palpatine's crazy Rule of One... Which was very stupid since it relied in a supply of clones/bodies/hosts to keep moving around. Didn't work for Vitiate, didn't work for him. You throw some bantha piss in the cloning tanks/possession process and fuck up with all the genetic code of clones/disrupt the possession of hosts
Letting the Sith just grow unchecked is inevitably going to have them turn on each other at some point but I'd argue it's a necessary part of the Sith life cycle. The massive pool of Sith will eventually be whittled down to one powerful Sith lord, while the rule of two could lead to the Sith declining over time. Also semi-related but Darth Sidious was stupid to conceal himself as a Sith. He should have revealed himself as one (even if not to the masses) so that the military would be strengthened through a Sith cult. Good way to bolster battlefield morale is have Sith warriors on the field and fighting alongside the standard troops. Look at it from a stormtrooper's point of view - the enemy may be decently armed rebels but you've got fucking space wizards running alongside you. Doesn't matter that in the grand scheme of things said space wizards aren't very powerful at all on the Sith scale because they are still obviously more powerful than your average human.

Darth Krayt. To rule through might and fear is the true nature of the Sith. He who stands above all is the one most worthy to rule and control the weak. Darth Bane believed in culling, deception and hiding. The path of a coward. Darth Sidious was closer to Krayt's ideal but ultimately seemed to unsure of whether he could truly handle the legions of sith for a new era, hence why he only kept around weaker dark side adepts and a crippled apprentice at his side, and Luke's role during Dark Apprentice being no more than a ruse. Krayt held no such fears and would've succeeded as a proper new Sith Emperor if not for the Jedi.

>>4468 >Darth Krayt. To rule through might and fear is the true nature of the Sith. He who stands above all is the one most worthy to rule and control the weak. Not really, this is something from the Rule of Two. Rule of One was all about ideological indoctrination to serve the Sith through the will of the Dark Lord, it enforced loyalty above all else (to the point of the sith lords gladding accept their deaths or killing themselves it it was the will of Darth Krayt) >Darth Bane believed in culling, deception and hiding. The path of a coward. It was the most effective Sith doctrine. Cowardice, courage, it was all stupid notions of morality. What matters is Power. You either have or desire it, >Darth Sidious was closer to Krayt's ideal but ultimately seemed to unsure of whether he could truly handle the legions of sith for a new era, hence why he only kept around weaker dark side adepts and a crippled apprentice at his side, and Luke's role during Dark Apprentice being no more than a ruse. Palpatine aim was to abolish the Rule of Two and rule as an immortal dark side fueled emperor >Krayt held no such fears and would've succeeded as a proper new Sith Emperor if not for the Jedi. >was humiliated by fucking holocrons >even when he manage to come back and restore is body he still was so fearful of betrayal that he launched an army of zombie like troops >tried to cheat death by possessing Cade In the end there was really one truth: Power. To embody it or to crave it,
