This is an unofficial bunker for 8chan's /ck/ board.

Rules:
1. New threads need to be about food and cooking.

Enjoy.
holy fuck I didn't realize a /ck/ bunker existed until now. Thanks for creating, whoever did so.

What the hell is an antonio roll?

https://www.heb.com/product-detail/h-e-b-sushiya-san-antonio-roll/1477048
This. It's a San Antonio roll. I got an end of the semester party in December in the works at a sushi restaurant so if they have something like this, I'll order it. I've never tried making sushi before and I've always left it up to the pros. Anyways, I'll tell you how it taste.
I am a burger so that might explain why I have seen it and you haven't

Gyozas? It seems strange to have both cooked and uncooked stuff in the same package. Are you supposed to reheat the stickers?

Hell if I know. That picture isn't mine. I got it off of 8/ck/ from the thread that was about what everyone was eating that day. I made a few post in that thread. Let me show them to you.

Are you sure it wasn't the bait thread?
>>70
I am certain of it but that bait thread was pretty fun. That thread about bourbon whiskey was pretty cool too.
Do you think the images I posted in >>69 lmao the weed number are disgusting?

Not that much. I'd probably eat them without the ketchup.

That's perfectly acceptable. What is the ideal hotdog for you?

It truly is heresy.

lime ramen noodles soup in a wine glass garnished with a lime wheel and some of the seasoning packet of the noodles around the rim. I think that's what it is.

Crunchy baguette bread with Dijon mustard or horseradish. I like it when it burns my nose.
Don’t want to make a new thread for this, but has anyone ever made homemade fried chicken before?
I want to try making some, but don’t want to deep fry it or use some really shitty oil (don’t want to waste good oil on it either. Any tips or advice for making it?
>>106
Go with a halfway house of shallow frying + turning it but in a relatively thick layer of oil. It won't necessarily come out the same way though. You could probably also cut it into much smaller pieces if you're going this route.
>>106
Could it be possible to just bake it? I do that with "fried" spring rolls after brushing them lightly with olive oil, they end up super crispy and very light (since they're not drenched in fat)
>>106
You aren't getting proper friend chicken without oil. However, a good trick I use is pressure cooking the chicken until it's nearly done. Take it out and batter/fry it to finish. Minimizes the time it's in the oil and it'll slide right off the bone.
Why did it take me so long to find this place?

>donut burger
Donut do this. Tried it once as a meme. Wasn't awful, but it was certainly less than the sum of its parts. Oh, and the donut-bun disintegrated.
In fact, most of that stuff looks Buzzfeed-tier. It might look like a good idea when you're stoned, but so does everything else food-related.
>Chilli Pie Burger, BBQ Burger, Nacho Burger
These actually seem pretty good.
>PB&J Burger
Seems weird, but it might be okay. I might give it a shot next time I have a chance.
>Cheesesteak Burger
Steak seems redundant on a beef burger. And cheese whiz looks and sounds disgusting. Why would you disrespect not one but two cows by using it instead of real cheese?
>Hot Dog Burger
The frankfurter would overpower the patty.
>Breakfast Burger
This is actually a thing but anything super sweet like maple syrup tends to ruin burgers. Chutney, pineapple and beetroot are good, but I draw the line at jam.
>Pastrami Burger
I have never had pastrami and what the fuck is "fry sauce"?

Here's a burger you fags should try though:
1kg of beef mince
1 can of red curry paste
2 eggs
handful of breadcrumbs or oats
mango chutney
chopped raw onion
green shit
6 buns
Mix the first 4 ingredients, divide into 6 patties, fry that shit, spread some chutney on the buns, assemble burgers, eat, jizz in your pants.

Yeah I admit that the dognuts thing seemed kind of like a joke. The burger + chili pie actuall seems pretty good and the burger + cheesesteak sounds nice too. I've never made myself a breakfast burger before but when we go out some where my brother often orders it.
Also, for the freedom loving people in this thread, 1 kg of beef mince is roughly equal to 2.2 pounds of meat.
>>124
Thanks. It really adds a lot of dept to the picture that it really never had before.
What is /ck/'s favorite mixed drink to make? My current favorite is a rum and coke or a moscow mule. I'm a college kid so I gotta love the rum and coke A white russian isn't too bad either.
>>124
Good work. I forgot to mention the silliness of putting cereals on a bun but you're right. Corn chips can go well in burritos just for the extra crunch, but the tortilla strips are absolutely retarded and redundant, especially since putting anything chewy inside a burger just leads to a messy clusterfuck when you try to eat it.

>>125
I've always preferred to drink spirits straight except absinthe of course but my favorite cocktail would have to be the zombie.
>>125
I usually go for straight bourbon. If I do have mixed drinks, I like to have either an old fashioned or a gin and tonic.
>>126
>>125
>>122
>>76
Even the good Burgers are overdesigned or fucked up somehow. >>124 is pretty close to accurate.
>Chili burger
replace corn chips with jalepenos. Melt cheese directly onto patty instead of on top
>BBQ burger
Pit beef would be better than burger meat here.
>PBJ
Coztanza is accurate
>southwest burger
melt cheese directly onto patty (use a pepper jack), remove jalepenos, and substitute a spicier salso or pico.
>cheesesteak
Just fuck the whole idea. Either eat a cheesesteak, eat steak on a bun, or eat a pit beef sandwich.
>hot dog
this is just degenerate. Top with a fried deli meat like canadian bacon or pastrami.
>breakfast burger
remove syrup and hash browns, add cheese. (optional: replace burger patty with scrapple)
>Pastrami
see hot dog burger. Fried pastrami+provolone+mustard+sauerkraut should do the trick. Add relish or jalepenos to taste.
>donut
no
>grilled cheese sandwich
using a full sandwich on each side would be degenerate, plus the sheer amount of butter on a normal grilled cheese is too much for a burger. Try making a patty melt instead.
>pizza bagel
Too doughy for a ground beef sandwich. Avoid. Pizza sauce on a burger can be great though.
>>137
>pit beef
I had do look that up. It's not quite as metal as I thought.
>>125
Gin and Tonic or Pink Gin. Both have been fucked over by hipster shits and their bullshit flavoured gins though.
So is this the photo thread or should I make one?
Chicken with champagne plum sauce. Also fried rice.

The plum part smelled like "candle" when it was made, but the final part doesn't and is actually really good. Needed more sauce since I served it with rice.

>Chili Pie burger
>Chili Pie
Uncultured lot, that's just the mere basics for a Frito Pie. Add refried beans to the burger and you get the San Antonio Bean Burger.
>>124
>spray cheese
>doesn't know that spray cheese is on a philly cheesesteak
There's a lot of weirdo combinations that oddly work. George Motz covers regional burgers in his books. That should open your tastes bro. The insulting thing the infograph has is that there always has to be a beef patty when flavors will work better with different meats and different cuts.
>>76
All of these burgers sound like overkill for home cooks. Rarely am I ever served a good hamburger by anyone who isn't myself or a restaurant cook. Could a pizza bagel burger be good? Sure. Could a typical home cook pull that off? Not without Bagel Bites.

The hot dog infographic has the New York hot dog in its correct position as #1, but putting that weird Mexican shit and that Seattle abomination above the plain frankfurter (labeled 'Germany' instead of 'Austria'), the Chicago-style hot dog, and the Coney, without even including barbecue kielbasa or croissant dogs just makes it look like a shitty AI put this together.

>>122 (checked)
Philly cheesesteaks require Cheez Whiz for the same reason why Chicago-style hot dogs require pickle relish with blue food coloring in it: it's the city's tradition. Give it a chance, it's good.

Spray cheese is shit.
The proper cheese on a philly cheesesteak is provolone.

Why put spray cheese on anything? If you're going through the effort of making a meal you can take a minute to grate some actual cheese.

You seem to have confused Cheez Whiz with Easy Cheese. Both are soft American cheeses, but Cheez Whiz is used as a dip (or as the 'official' cheese for the Philly cheesesteak) and Easy Cheese is used for topping crackers.
>>222 (checked)
I'll admit I did confuse the two, though they both seem equally not cheeses.
>>223

I got >>222. Your argument is invalid.
>>222
>>223
Any cheese can be made into an American-style processed cheese by blending it with melting salts. Kraft Singles, Velveeta, Easy Cheese and Cheez Whiz are all Cheddar cheeses with salts (and probably cream, milk, or butterfat) blended into them to allow them to melt more uniformly. No need to be afraid of it.

Here's a video showing how you can make your own: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENMoC6fMwFE
>>222 (checked)
Yeah, I got them mixed up to. We don't have either in Aus. I'm guessing they are both "whipped cheese" though?
>>225
Amerimutts really are subhumans that need to be exterminated.
Then again, everyone deserves to be killed because people are shit. I long for a nuclear war or something to wipe everyone out so I can laugh at everyone else flipping out and dying before I die.
Hey there, do i make a board somewhere else now or do you want to see the light at the end of the tunnel?
