>A programmer's job is to make the game run well and be well optimized yet most games are neither nowadays.
depends on what system, if it's a 3rd party publisher that makes games first on the console then port it over to computers then it is obvious. gamers on PC don't usually pay, so why bother?
Also, they only need to be focused that the visual stuff works, and then everything else is second that they functioning.
After-all games don't have depth or much mechanics under the hood, which before they believed was a nice thing that would add to the realism to experience of the game.
So that is why you have some game developers that uses crowd sims and not scripts for the game to seem realistic, so that they have a role in game world and will do some things daily the problem is that most don't even recognize it.
>artist are just people that took game design course
some are, but allot of artist are the ones that can model, if not they hire or use 3rd parties to get 3d models from.
Like, they know how to model but not program and are learned to program at work, so they aren't a wasted asset in the company.
Now, you do have examples of diversity hires that for some reason got hired and the ones that work have to take allot of the workload from them.
Games today is bad for many reason, I would say some are bad because the focus is on the wrong thing, some games are good even fun but get overshadowed by other things or games and thus don't get the light of day.
Other people are puritans and don't want to play anything that isn't retro, even games that are more or less a love letter to those games but because there is a nigger or a fag, then it is automatically shit even when they didn't play the game.Or they want a pure carbon copy of the same game, over and over again.
Then you have people that don't want to try anything new, because of their autism or because games are so expensive that they are afraid of playing anything that is derivation of the original game or games.
