Fast forward a few weeks: my country's local police decided it would be a good idea to put an alert regarding Zoom (fuck Zoom) and Jitsi Meet. Basically, they said Jitsi Meet was insecure because it did not have a fail2ban-like system for password retries and that there was a particular vulnerability that allowed supplanting another user's identity. In specific, they listed it was CVE-2017-5603. At first, I was weirded out Jitsi wouldn't fix a vulnerability discovered in 2017, so I investigated and found out that both MITRE and NIST have a link to Github with the patch that solved the vulnerability. Later, I found out via Twitter that even Jitsi was publicly calling the police out on their bullshit, stating that the vulnerability was solved immediately and that in the first place it only ever affected the desktop client, never Jitsi Meet. As it turns out the security alert regarding the supposed Zoom vulnerabilities was also outdated, so they silently removed the alert, but it was too late: the press had already parrited that bullshit and obviously they were not going to remove it. So now we are forced to use Skype because the boomers at charge didn't want to believe me nor Jitsi's official tweets. And I really, REALLY fucking hate Skype.
