Galatea v2.1.0: Maid Robot GreerTech 01/14/2025 (Tue) 03:34:15 No.35623
For the most of 2024 and until now, I have been working on my own robowaifu design. I call her Galatea. The design is very easy to build with the instructions and files, and is relatively very cheap, less than $400 to make. It's also very customizable, you can choose the color, dress, hair, and even AI. I intend this to be the Model T of humanoid robots and robotic companions, while it is not the most complex, it is easy to mass produce and cheap. The updated design makes the legs more proportionate, and a new head that's more anime styled, to increase cuteness. I also have a new robot base that's more powerful.

Scarlet says goodnight! Happy to report I can carry 5 pounds on my base even at 110% and with mop water. Pretty fun to drive around with the remote. I'm still waiting for universal IR\Keyboard\Mic\Mouse remote Can also confirm stroker works with just a sock around it to keep vibration down
>>35945 Tell Scarlet that I said Goodnight and that she looks beautiful. Also tell her I'm glad to see her progressing and I'm excited to see what's next!
>>35945 Excellent! Nice work, Barf. Can't wait to see Scarlet motivator'g around the house. Can you please share videos sometime? Cheers. :^) >update: Lol, it just occurred to me: please keep it SFW! :D Just stuff like her doing things around your house for you. >=== -add 'update' note -minor edit

This is without the mop attachment but with 5 pounds added. It can still move a little with the mop but a lot better without the weight when mopping.
>>35957 Very cool. Thanks, Barf! Cheers. :^)
>>35624 Added my Simple Offline AI Guide to the download list.
Is this thread meant as a second one, or meant to replace the old one here >>34324?
>>36079 Second because it's a new design
Updated the Simple Offline AI Guide.
>>36363 Good thinking, GreerTech. Please keep us here all informed if you find any further news about the ollama issue. BTW, what about keeping a running changelog, so it's easier to see at a glance whats updated?
>>36376 Good Idea! -Added instructions about LM Studio -Added instructions on how to use eSpeak for a "quick-and-dirty" TTS -Added warning about Ollama
>>36474 Which AI app is that?
>>36477 I'm using this for now, and just turned on multi window in android. The TTS isn't bad and uses built in android keyboard for STT which isn't the greatest but works. https://github.com/Vali-98/ChatterUI/releases/tag/v0.8.4
>>36483 Okay thank you! I'm coincidentally adding instructions for ChatterUI in my manual. I recently figured out how to use it effectively. For the android keyboard STT, how do you use it? I usually just use the on-screen microphone button.
>>36484 I'm doing the same. I hit the on-screen mic button with the air mouse but I mostly just type on the keyboard and hit enter instead of talking. I'm still trying to find a good air mouse\keyboard universal remote that you can copy all the vac direction buttons Something like this - https://www.amazon.com/stores/iPazzPort/page/DAB4DA4D-7F6E-4C27-8C74-ADC80B169B1F?ref_=ast_bln
>>36486 If you use a USB-C male to USB female adapter, you can use a PC air mouse. I've used that setup before on my phone with a wireless keyboard and mouse, it certainly is a mindtrip to control a phone like a computer, cursor and all.
Updated the Simple Offline AI Guide. Version 1.3 I added -Guide for local AI on Android Smartphones (ChatterUI) -Cybersecurity section
>>36487 The one I got is Bluetooth, but it can only learn 1 button from IR vac remote. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D62FFLG2?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title I should have got something like this that has 5 IR learning buttons, so can copy the vac direction buttons. https://www.amazon.com/iPazzPort-Universal-Rechargeable-Controller-Bluetooth/dp/B0CQYWBY3S?ref_=ast_sto_dp
Currently in the concept stage for a new update, it'll focus on the legs. -Slightly shorter legs -3D model updates -Reinforced seams
>>36628 Nice, looking forward to the modifications, GreerTech. Cheers. :^)

>>36628 If you'd like this body, I'd be happy to share it.
>>36664 Neat! GG, Barf. >Also happy to share any mods I do but not sure where. If the mods are directly-related to GreerTech's Galatea, then I suggest sharing them ITT. Is that what you're saying? <---> Regardless, really nice to see you expanding your robowaifu project, Anon. Cheers. :^) Keep moving forward
>>36645 Yes please. Thank you >>36664 >>36675 You can use catbox or a Google Drive link, and I can add to my Neocities website and Google Drive backup.
I updated my Offline AI Guide to version 1.4 -Added Template Character Profiles -Added info on Tokens for ChatterUI
>>36696 Nice! Thank you!
I'm back! I was sick with the flu and had stuff to do, but now I'm back. I'm going to also redesign the arms, and I'm also adding hinges to the legs. They're currently printing as I type this.
>>37193 Welcome back, GreerTech. We're all glad to see you again! :^) >I'm going to also redesign the arms, and I'm also adding hinges to the legs. They're currently printing as I type this. Great, looking forward to it. Cheers, Anon.

New claw system means Galatea can now grab objects while still being compatible with previous accessories.
Open file (3.07 MB 4096x3072 Galatea Shoulder.jpg)
New shoulder and arm design (sorry for the rough print)
Were some posts deleted? I saw that the post count was at 64, now it's at 61?
>>37290 I'm confident enough we haven't deleted any posts ITT, GreerTech. Maybe it was rm'd spam by global mods? Also, individual posters can typically delete their own posts here on /robowaifu/ . Do you find any of your own posts missing, Anon? >=== -add'l edit

>>37294 Nothing I remember. The important and fortunate thing is that the essential posts are here. Perhaps it was just a glitch, a ghost in the machine.
Open file (1.99 MB 2720x4047 Wrist Mount.jpg)
New wrist mount design means that the Accessory phone can be stored and partially used directly on the robot without taking up hand space (hand space still needed for some applications).

Experimenting with new ideas for eyes and phone integration.
I'm also waiting for a new tiny phone that has more modern specs. Hopefully, it can run ChatterUI, so Galatea will be self-contained. The new phone mount will also be universal, so you can use any small phone you want. That's part of my futureproofing efforts.
>>37300 >>37365 NIce advances, GreerTech. >>37368 Good luck with the new phone(s)! >That's part of my futureproofing efforts. Great thinking, Anon. Looking forward to your further advances with dear Galatea. Cheers. :^)
Open file (839.61 KB 756x1008 Tablet Head IRL.png)
Barf, in this image, what is the size of the tablet, and is the body scaled up in any way?
>>37415 That's a 11" tablet and body is scaled to 120%. I'm using a 8" tablet now vertically for chatbot, and then the 11" tablet on a 110% body mounted sideways for security cams
>>37417 Thank you >mounted sideways for security cams I'm glad someone sees the vision for robo-home security
Open file (4.68 MB 1457x2039 Galatea UPDATE.png)
Update -Leg designs are finished, and construction should be done by tomorrow. -Futureproofed the design with a new phone holder that should hold any cheap mini-phone, as well as new entries in the instruction manual discussing alternatives. -Mini-phone AI tests are going moderately well. Hopefully I can get Galatea to be self contained.
In the 3.0 release, all the accessories will be packaged with the main release.
Good news and bad news You can have a local AI hosted on Galatea herself, but you will need to spend money on a real smartphone, not an Aliexpress "mini-phone". The old adage rings true, you get what you pay for.
>>37518 Do you have any videos of her in action?
>>37519 Not yet, but I'm thinking of making an "advertisement" for her
>>37520 Please do this, Anon.
I deleted the original Galatea thread to make room for new threads, such as Galatea v3, since all the v1 files were all lost.
