Galatea v3 Series: Maid Robot GreerTech 05/01/2025 (Thu) 00:54:37 No.38070
For the past year, I have been working on my own robowaifu design. Her name is Galatea. She's currently in the v3 Series. The design is very easy to build with the instructions and files, and is relatively very cheap, around $400 to make. She's also very customizable, you can choose the color, dress, hair, and even AI. I intend this to be the Model T of humanoid robots and robotic companions, while it is not the most complex, it is easy to mass produce and cheap. As of this post, her latest version is v3.0.2 Previous thread: https://trashchan.xyz/robowaifu/thread/74.html
Your manuals are getting better, GreerTech. This is the way, you're on the right path IMO: Slow & Steady (cf. >>33553 ). Cheers! :^)
>>38075 Thank you!!! I'm glad you noticed, I put a lot of effort into the manuals, in a way, they're a project in itself.
>>38076 >in a way, they're a project in itself. Indeed. As someone once said: >"The job's not finished until the paperwork's completed." Cheers, Anon. :^) Forward!

>>38152 >>38158 These are super-cute, GreerTech. Seriously, you need to develop & market these is my advice, Anon. I don't think it would distract you much from your slow-and-steady design progress with dear Galatea, et al, and might actually bring a little money into the development coffers for you in the meantime! Good luck, Anon. Cheers. :^)
>>38159 Unfortunately they're just one time AI images, but I can see about 3D printing the fumo one with an image-to-3d model generator. I'll also use them in marketing and promotion. As for making money, I'll need to promote first to get an audience. Despite our earlier assumptions, having a robowaifu design is not an instant blockbuster.
>>38160 Wise words. I'll be praying for your good success, GreerTech. Cheers. :^)
Working on some little upgrades -Interesting idea for a counterweight -Slightly modified duct tape latch
I also made some videos of her speaking, both of which are references to computer history.

>>38318 >Why the opposition to using a LiDAR vacuum base? Because the robowaifu's base/legs get in the way or something? Exactly. They do a 360-degree sweep, and having the legs in the way is going to interfere with it.

>>39442 Future of Galatea; Short term: -New Accessories -More utilization of hardware Long term ideas (one's that need to be figured out): -Better elbows -Additional "adult fun time" accessories ---- So far, I have been mostly focusing on promotion (as well as other GreerTech projects). The lion Galatea picture did give me some ideas. As I type this, I'm printing a sturdier version of the cat ears.
>>39443 OK, got it. Thanks for compiling this short-list for us all. Do any of these plans involve actuation abilities, eventually? The >tl;dr is that if you're going for "Companion Maid Robot", then it'd be tremendously-valuable if dear Galatea can manipulate things, as well as her sweeping abilities. Makes sense? >The lion Galatea picture did give me some ideas. As I type this, I'm printing a sturdier version of the cat ears. Excellent! Please don't forget her cute whiskers & paws and tail, ofc. Catgrills always need a fluffy tail! Good luck, Anon. Cheers. :^)

>>39448 The problem with motorized actuators is that a big question arises: why? I can move the arms manually to do most tasks. Adding motorized articulation would raise the price and add to the complexity, and open-source AI eye-motor coordination systems aren't quite there yet for daily use. And the sweeping abilities are easily done with her base. That's why I'm definitely excited about open source robotics. People far more talented than me are figuring out a way to solve that very problem. >Please don't forget her cute whiskers & paws and tail, ofc. Catgrills always need a fluffy tail! For the tail, I can do a simple cosplay tail, same with the paws Relevant links; Cosplay Tail https://www.amazon.com/BANLAN-Costume-Children-Halloween-Christmas/dp/B07S1YGM93/ Cosplay Paws https://www.amazon.com/BNLIDES-Cosplay-Fursuit-Costume-Accessories/dp/B0BNX9P3KH/ Foxgirl set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09JFDBX1Z/
>>39449 >why? I'm not trying to belabor the point. You have good arguments on your side ATM. But I think most people are going to immediately think of the 'sci-fi' version of things whenever someone mentions robot maids? >tl;dr I'm really pleased with Galatea as-is. I'm simply encouraging you to keep moving forward with her. That's all. :^) >Foxgirl set Topshelf!! :D This will make many Anons very happy, GreerTech. Cheers.

>>39450 Sorry if I sounded confrontational, I asked "why?" in an engineering sense, as a prelude to my point that the software isn't quite here yet for arms, so they would be useless outside of scripted events. >But I think most people are going to immediately think of the 'sci-fi' version of things whenever someone mentions robot maids? It's funny you said that, because "making sci-fi real" is basically the GreerTech ethos >I'm really pleased with Galatea as-is. I'm simply encouraging you to keep moving forward with her. That's all. :^) I'm glad you like her, that's a good sign for the future. And yeah, I do plan on adding upgrades in the future. I want her to be cute and useful, to fundamentally change the world and human/robot dynamics, with the larger goal of changing human society itself.
>>39451 I guess the better way to put it is: "What will the (new tech) do, and how will the (new tech) accomplish it?"
>>39451 >Sorry if I sounded confrontational, No, not at all. :^) >I asked "why?" in an engineering sense, as a prelude to my point that the software isn't quite here yet for arms, so they would be useless outside of scripted events. How long until robo-waifus can be bought
>>39857 Well, you can make a Galatea today, and Mechomancer has made great progress on SPUD Pringle. Kiwi is determined to make at least a base-level robowaifu by Christmas. If you want a sex doll-style "realistic" robowaifu, I can help you incorporate AI with just a bluetooth speaker and your phone. I would also look into a dolly base so you won't have it be "paralyzed" like Lars and the Real Girl. That's where you can put a bluetooth speaker and other stuff

>>41564 They hate AI because they don't control it. If techno distributism was pushed on the board they might become more receptive.
>>41564 >>41576 As an OG newfag, I personally make a hard distinction between the original group of a few thousand Anons (ie, the original 4chan) -- periodically "infused" (plagued?) with Summer ; and the kike-controlled, glownigger-gayop'd, libsh*te-infested, poojeet-coloured site that is today's 4cuck. The Second Exodus was the signal fire of that ending. Today we're mostly found in so-called 'Alt-chans' like this one. --- Us former would (and does) like AI. We're the ones working hard collectively towards making it our own (and also for anyone else who's willing to work for it). Who cares what that later group thinks? Simple as. :D

Hey, I found your thread on incels.is. I don't have an account there because I'm not an incel, but I browse it semi-regularly. Kind of makes me want to make my own companion bot, but I don't have the skills to do that. But somebody there described your bot as a fancy vacuum cleaner, which is still superior to modern women because they're that fucking awful. So maybe instead of trying to make a full-fledged waifubot, I should try to see how minimalist of a product I can get away with and still have something superior to modern women. Maybe something from the video-only or AR waifu category.
>>42792 Welcome! >Kind of makes me want to make my own companion bot, but I don't have the skills to do that. Everyone was once a beginner at one point >So maybe instead of trying to make a full-fledged waifubot, I should try to see how minimalist of a product I can get away with and still have something superior to modern women. Maybe something from the video-only or AR waifu category. I say go for it! That would be nice to have. Related thread >>240
>>42792 Hello Anon, welcome. Glad you found us please look around the board while you're here. We're generally a fren'ly bunch, so ask any questions you want to. Our /meta thread : ( >>41241 ) is a good place for that. Cheers. :^)
>>42793 >>42796 Well, I don't actually need much of a welcome because I've posted here before. I'm the guy who tried to make the covert ops robowaifu thread and suggested the Robowaifu Legal Defense Fund. But previously I've never been able to come up with any practical technical suggestions that haven't already been thought of. But recently I had an idea that I think might be cool, which is a combination of several ideas from sci-fi. Basically I want something like an AR version of a Jedi holocron from Star Wars, but it's a sphere instead of a cube so it can roll around like the Morph Ball from Metroid. The AR sphere would provide a physical anchor point for an AR waifu allowing her to interact with the real world. It wouldn't provide the same level of tactile feedback as a full-blown robowaifu, but it would be a lot cheaper and potentially usable for non-robowaifu purposes, so it could have a large install base. And it does have the advantage that with AR, you can load up your own waifu holograms instead of being limited to a single fixed form with a physical bot. Is this something you guys think people might want?
>>42806 >and suggested the Robowaifu Legal Defense Fund. That's a great suggestion, Anon! Thank you very much for it. :^) >Is this something you guys think people might want? Are you kidding!? Absolutely. The main issue is that the SW version isn't practical. Holograms don't real. Our own Visual Waifus thread discusses a few ideas along this line, but they all require a physical "screen" substrate in one form or other. If your ball supports a screen of some sort, then that could conceivably work. Otherwise, you'd need to focus on some type of AR / VR approach (also obvs. involving screens). Very cool idea though. GG, Anon. Cheers. :^)
>>42807 Whoa, I wasn't expecting to get a response this fast given how slow this board is. >That's a great suggestion, Anon! Thank you very much for it. :^) Thanks brah, I hope it ends up being helpful. But I always wanted to do more than just be the Steve Jobs guy here. >The main issue is that the SW version isn't practical. Holograms don't real. Yeah, that's why I want to have it be AR-based. The "screen" here is an AR visor rather than something located on the sphere. You'd have the AR sphere establish a connection with an AR visor, and if you look at it through the visor, you can see your hologram waifu.
>>42808 >But I always wanted to do more than just be the Steve Jobs guy here. Lol'd, ngl. :D >You'd have the AR sphere establish a connection with an AR visor, and if you look at it through the visor, you can see your hologram waifu. Totally makes sense in that context then. Do you have any plans for this as a project? I mean do you have parts you're working on making/buying yet? Regardless, good luck with it Anon. Please keep us here all up to date! Cheers. :^) --- I'd think ( >>240 ) is the proper thread to post about it in. Either that or our R&D thread : (currently >>24152 ).
Edited last time by Chobitsu on 11/13/2025 (Thu) 00:39:37.
>>42809 Man, I don't know the first thing about how to program an AR hologram waifu, let alone attach her to a Morph Ball that can move around. I've seen a few examples of AR hologram waifus, but none that are attached to a mobile robot. Ideally I'd like this to be a sort of parallel project for robowaifu development. It can be used as not only a visual waifu, but also as a test bed for physical robowaifu systems development. It's possible that AR systems could be used to direct a physical robowaifu's movement, and an AR sphere could integrate with a physical robowaifu for various tasks. But that's undermined by the fact that I don't have any idea to do it. But yes, I should take this to another thread better suited for it, or else just make a new thread.
