Blender 2.80 Anonymous 08/21/2019 (Wed) 22:04:26 No.30 [Reply]
Hope you're used to the new interface. Now Studio Khara's using it:

I did some basic modeling in 2.79, only saw a bit of 2.80 but didn't have time to use it yet. I will need to replace my placeholders one day anyway.

your post is a little confusing to me anon. are you sperging literally because of python? or is it because of 3D CGI computer animation moving into the realm of hand-drawn anime production?

For the first point, Blender is written in C and C++, with just a smidge of Python for UI management mostly. For the second point, Glorious Nippon has been doing that for a long time now, much earlier than it became common in the West to do so.

Nvidia is starting to fund Blender development. Also for 2.81, RTX support is coming through OptiX. Will you still buy RTX, goy?

DESIGN Anonymous 10/02/2019 (Wed) 12:08:36 No.366 [Reply]
I want to get gud at DESIGN. Not the programming ends of things, but user interfaces and how things look artistically. I'm not sure if this is a good question for /tech/. Web design and css tricks wouldn't be bad, but I'm really just looking at making better interfaces in a lot of what I do in general.

It's just tips without structure from some guy. There are no good resources to learn interface design not intended for mouthbreathing normalfags too inept to choose between two buttons or high power level autists that need a UI with the complexity of a commercial airplane cabin. Raskin's Humane Interface? Some early 2000s talks by Microsoft and Apple? No fucking clue.
There's a lot of tips on the UI part of things. Any tips on the art side of things? Making it look scifi, that sort of thing?
>>401
you mean like systemspace?
>>401
I'll be honest anon, if you want something to look scifi, you're barking up the wrong tree. Usability and "styleizations" are usually add odds with one another. I won't try to tell you either one is wrong, but I will tell you that they can't coexist peacefully and that you should pick one. What are you making interfaces for anyway?

Do it like how it has always been done:

There is no substitute.

Here's mine: An emulator with online multiplayer.

I think that exists for at least some emulators. I'm afraid however none of them are made by idea factory.

Richard Stallman To Continue As Head Of The GNU Project Anonymous 09/27/2019 (Fri) 14:11:57 No.305 [Reply]
>While Richard Stallman resigned as president of the Free Software Foundation last week, he just announced he'll be continuing as head of the GNU Project.
>RMS just wrote in a brief mailing list post: On September 16 I resigned as president of the Free Software Foundation, but the GNU Project and the FSF are not the same. I am still the head of the GNU Project (the Chief GNUisance), and I intend to continue as such.
>He hadn't elaborated any further on his GNU plans moving forward besides that he intends on remaining at the front of the GNU Project. But perhaps with more time on his hands now with having resigned from the FSF and MIT, maybe we'll be seeing more code contributions from Stallman to the likes of GNU Hurd.

>The worst part is Stallman would probably agree with her as she brought up the magic words 'climate change'.
Yeah, I probably disagree with Stallman on almost everything. But they are taking it too far. It's really all just a big enactment to finally remove Stallman that had much control over the free software meta and despite him being quite insane himself always protected it from becoming too SJW influenced.
I will never contribute to their goddamn projects. I'll either do my own shit or just keep working for a company. Everyone needs to think hard if they really want to develop software for free for such an ungrateful community that will stab them in the back. Making a project open source has so many advantages but if you can't trust the people you're working with anymore, then there will be nothing left of it other than a race for gaining the most control in a given project.

Giving away your code marks you as an exploitable pleb.

Oh, I thought it was an Arch installer that also pulled his dotfiles. I still don't see why you'd want to use someones elses set up, but eh whatever. I just checked out his blogscript and you're right, that shit is dope. I'm going to write something similar except using awk because I'm a nigger for my own site now that I've seen that, thanks!
>spoiler
Well yeah, that's why I don't get why you'd use someone elses configs. Everyone that uses a WM inbstead of a DE has their own autistic preferences. Also

If you check out his homepage he doesn't seem too concerned about all this and just wrote a quick log on his political notes page, ever since he converted to the global warming death cult he hasn't been the same.

>END OF AN ERA
Definitely. So, no more sitting around and relying on people like Stallman and Torvalds to bring back sanity when SJWs are trying to take over. But most tech people don't want to bother with politics, and so they just comply even when they're generally against it. This way the tech industry will get taken over without even fighting it. Because fighting it seems to be seen as ideologically inconsistent by apolitical types.
People need to go and start their own projects and organisations like Stallman did back in the 70's, based on your own ideals.
